Social Commitment

A central objective of Minera San Cristóbal is to help create the conditions for the population living in the communities surrounding the mining project to develop self-sustaining businesses independent of mining production, seeking a better future for their inhabitants.

The company’s social commitment is closely linked to its commitment to society, seeking the well-being of all residents of the region in which we operate by establishing sustainable development processes.

MSC’s direct area of influence includes the communities of San Cristóbal, Culpina K, Vila Vila, and Río Grande, all part of the San Cristóbal canton, the first section of the Colcha K municipality in the Nor Lípez province of the department of Potosí.

To achieve its sustainable development objectives, MSC has three areas of action:

Community Relations
Direct and ongoing links with the communities in the project’s area of influence, addressing their needs, coordinating activities, and consolidating channels of continuous and transparent communication.

Resettlement and Mitigation
Promotion of environmental impact reduction projects and supervision of works carried out in communities to improve their quality of life.

Sustainable Development
Coordination of proposals and projects for community development.

We work with the “Los Lípez San Cristóbal” Advisory Council, which is made up of community leaders from the adjacent areas: San Cristóbal, Culpina K, Vila Vila, and Rio Grande, who plan and decide the path of their development and future.

With the goal of improving the communities’ quality of life, programs are implemented:

  • They improve education and health services.
  • They optimize agricultural and tourism activities.
  • They promote micro and small businesses.
  • They support cultural enhancement activities.

MSC and the communities have a direct and ongoing relationship, characterized by ongoing and participatory dialogue, mutual respect and trust, shared responsibility, compliance with agreements and commitments, and the promotion of sustainable development.
